If you’ve been following the blog, you know I believe in systems: automating processes to expedite progress, stay inspired, and move forward.
Writing every week helps me tangibly track my progress. I record my thoughts and include next steps to help you. But what better way to keep this creative, collaborative progress going by sharing more projects and pointers across the web? I’m excited to announce that Andrea of Field Day Nature and I started our Instagram today.
Follow @inspiration_system on Instagram to see our creative process in action every day!
Why did we choose Instagram? Unlike blogs and other social media platforms, Instagram is home to strictly visual content. Images are paired with words for context, allowing an environment conducive to tracking and sharing. We want to acknowledge the #wip (work in progress), not simply the before and after shots ubiquitous to the medium.
We will be mainly working on separate projects, with regular collaborations. We will be exploring themes like balance and curiosity. We’re starting with balance to acknowledge how art is a balancing act. There’s a difference between actively creating and passively consuming. We hope to recognize the struggle but create systems to intentionally bring more creativity to our lives.
Words are my passion, so I will be exploring different ways on presenting words. From etymology to linguistics, web writing to reading, words play a large role in my personal and professional life. I’m a master of routine, but regularly creating is absent beyond the blog.
Developing a portfolio of present projects is hard work, but this Instagram will track both our progress and hopefully inspire others to create. I too am excited to work with Andrea and challenge myself to new presentations of words on a host of different mediums, such as a logo for this website.
I want to own the “creative” title and surround myself with creativity. While I write a new post every week, my web home is absent of imagery. My physical home has blank walls. The minimalist in me sees the cleanliness, but creativity is essential to who I am, too. My home is a sanctuary, now it just needs some adornments. This will be my ideal environment for growth.
