Hello, world! I’m a multi-passionate, lifelong learner. After years of color-coded spreadsheets, scribble-filled napkins, and countless journals, I published my first blog post on 1/19/2019, outlining an intense 19 goals for the year. Since then, I’ve learned to track and stack values-based habits via blog. A digital marketer, library/information science student, and freelance editor, I’m geeky about schedules, service-learning, and self- and social-identities. Get to know me with some popular posts, such as Ode to the Midnight Gym Routine, Write Do and Don’t Do Lists, and an early pandemic entry, Is Stillness Possible during Craziness?
My goal for this website is to make a virtual haven for multi-passionate, creative folks. Creative work does not have to be isolating. And so I try to post authentically, honestly, and passionately! In 2024, that looks like a new post every 10 days.
I help creatives shape their schedules and edit their resumes so they can focus on their projects, build tangible goals, and have confidence in their abilities, so together we develop meaningful lives.
I love telling (and listening to) compelling stories, and I want to help fellow creative powerhouses promote their skills, schedules, and goals… without feeling gross or overwhelmed. If you’d like to be featured on my website, such as a blog post and interview, just holler by submitting a creative spotlight request here. We’re all works in progress, and these creative spotlights can inspire others to see your work and perhaps work on their own. Spotlights focus on female and nonbinary folks, inspiring entrepreneurship, networking, and creativity.
Or if you’d like to pivot to a different field or start a new role, consider hiring me to review your resume or other short-form document. Services range from $10 (feedback within 2 days) to $40 (comments, copyediting, and redesign). Resumes have so much potential: to pivot your career, promote focus(es), and profess uniqueness! Plus, they’re super functional, and I can make them look fun and on-brand, too.
How did you get here?
It’s every marketer’s essential, existential question. Perhaps we met at a coffee shop. Maybe we edited your resume together. Or perhaps we were colleagues at Ripon College, Hillside Health Care International, Ebenezer Stone Ministries, or Camp Alice Chester. (Click here for my interactive resume featuring some of my work!) Or maybe I wrote you a letter on behalf of my alma mater.
You probably didn’t find me on social media, but I occasionally post there. Feel free to follow along on Goodreads for some surprisingly optimistic short-form reviews and/or Instagram for partnerships and pictures, as I partner with female-led Mini Activewear. Click here to browse Mini Activewear’s comfy lounge and gym gear, and use my code KAYLIEL to take 20% off. Though I have mixed feelings about social media, I aim to use these platforms as tools, such as the single photo challenge I’ve curated.
More likely, if we’ve never chatted over coffee, a web search led you here (“resume reviewer” or “creative life coach” or “Kaylie at Ripon”, anyone?). While I am the only “Kaylie Longley” in the world, it’s awesome to have you here, dear Internet user. Feel free to share what brought you here with a comment!
What am I up to in 2024?
I set 5 goals for 2024, outlining new routines for my new-ish home and marketing position in Colorado. This is my shortest goal sheet yet, as I am in grad school for library and information science. Therefore, my primary focus is learning in an academic setting, at the University of Denver!
I have documented annual goals since 2019. While I still track goals by value, my cardinal mission of publishing a book for multi-passionate creatives remains. My research and experiences with opportunity cost have led to half a journal, but I have bigger goals for this publication beyond the pages. In fact, I’d like to continue researching after my master’s degree and might earn a doctoral degree in communications, research methods, engineering, or something else in the process. Who knows?
After years of 1:1 mentoring folks on voice, yearbook editing for 3(!) different schools, and reviewing practically every stage of life for my friends’ books, 2024 marks the third year I’m charging for document editing!
I am a freelancer, too. The most affordable option is $10 for comments/feedback on your short-form piece (such as a resume or cover letter). For a complete redesign, copy edits, and my comments, I’m charging $40. I’ve worked with many amazing folks, some of whom shared their thoughts with testimonials. See what some peers think of my work here. Thanks for your review!
How can we show up for each other in 2024?
I aim to give grace, time, and encouragement in this very challenging, changing world. Grace, in fact, was my word for 2022 (explore “grace” content here). Living intentionally, intuitively, my word for 2023 was “inner compass.” 2024’s word for the year is inherently active and curious: experiment.
As a creative who thinks like an engineer, I look for diverse outcomes within organizations and datasets. What that means? I make systems and schedules that work for me, often in the form of habit stacking and tracking. With words as my main source of function and fun, my blog can serve as your inspiration, whether it’s you hitting “record”, finally cracking open a journal to (re)start a journey of reflection, or you’re just taking that very important first step.
It is my sincere hope that my words and work help you as the universe does: you are loved, worthy, smart, and SEEN. If my website helps you own your precious story, I’ve done my good deed. So together, dear friends, let’s make the world more inclusive, more fun, and more creative. Thank you for being here.
