Over the course of several weeks, I have prepared https://du.digication.com/kaylie-longley/home to represent my LIS coursework, leadership experiences, and community projects. This is a non-graded component of my master’s degree, but it has blossomed into so much more. Sharing reflections on courses was surprisingly endearing, and I enjoyed adding some Kaylie pizazz to it.
Learning a new technology is sometimes intimidating. As the site above is hosted on Digication versus the one you’re reading now has Bluehost and WordPress, there were some limitations and questions. I even considered updating kaylielongley.com to a completely LIS space. But I think I’ve got the best of both. Digication is in the comforts of DU’s ecosystem, and I also made that site findable via Google.
I am fortunate to have another Digitication site on my toolbelt. That’s thanks to my graduate assistantship. Check out: https://du.digication.com/library-and-information-science-program/home. In addition, I feel fortunate to have helped a handful of students with building their own portfolios at a “party” recently, too. Empowering people to express themselves through digital spaces is very satisfying!
YAY, new websites! Does this count as art? You decide. And let me know if you know any digital librarian roles within academic settings. I’m graduating in 1.5 months!
