Ope, I missed posting on October 30th. Happy Halloweekend! Today, I’ll be working at the library, with colleagues dressed as Arthur characters, asking folks for main character energy. I’m currently charging my car, as fog fades, and the sun peaks through the abyss.
Yesterday, my partner and I went to a party dressed as Spinal Tap, fulfilling my tradition of cosplaying a man. After, we bopped around B-way, one of my fave streets when I first moved here 5(!) years ago. We dined on vegetarian cubanos and tucked into sleep before midnight.
I stopped drinking about 3 years ago. B-way no longer has its charm. Or perhaps I’ve changed. But I still enjoy people-watching, especially as costumes leaned nostalgic over unnecessarily sexy.
This month, I took much of this city in, as there’s a move ahead. C and I will still be in this state. But I’m looking at my communities a little differently. How can I keep adding value while staying true to myself? By continual exploring, mixed with being grounded in my values, I hope to still be the most authentic me. Even in a new space.
So I’m still trying new things and returning to old hobbies. Tomorrow, I’m seeing Orville Peck (finally!), and I’m also going to piano class. I’m going to pray and chant, and I’ll also try to squeeze in a run. I’m happy, healthy, and exactly where I need to be, even if that space is changing.
