Resume Editing

Are you a creative, overachiever, or multi-potentialite who just doesn’t know where to start with your resume? Maybe you want to streamline all your skills on just one page (I’ve been there). Perhaps it’s been SO LONG since you’ve changed your position or career, you’ve forgotten the rules of the resume. Or maybe you’re Googling “resume builder”, and you’re feeling the overwhelm. You’re not alone, dear friend.

As a school marketer, library/information science student, archivist, regular blogger, and freelance editor, life is full. I do a lot, and I love it. My resume highlights other positions, too: Yearbook editor, student mentor at an alternative high school (where my resume skills were put to the test!), mentor in rural Jamaica. AND those are just some of the experiences that relate to my creative, service-learning resume. I even built an interactive portfolio to streamline most of my creative work.

I’ve edited 100 (and counting) resumes and short-form media. These include friends’ docs, many of whom are desperately seeking their first adult job “in the real world” and family members who are re-entering this ever-changing workforce. I’ve helped many colleagues pivot industries and roles (myself successfully included).

I began charging for freelance editing in 2022.

I’m not looking back! Aiming for accessibility, my services are as low as 10 bucks. $10 gets you: my review (AKA my unbiased feedback) of up to 800 words and unlimited revisions. A typical resume should be no more than 800 words.

A Curriculum Vitae (CV) is a little different than a resume. A CV is often a more complete, itemized list, often focused on academic and/or publication pursuits. Resumes are more targeted, pointing to relevant experiences. Therefore, if you want a CV, let’s set a rate together. For $20, I will copy-edit/proofread your document and share my unbiased opinions, within 2 days of purchase. If you’d like a FULL review of your resume, including copy-editing, feedback, and design changes, it’s $30, and my turn-time is typically 2 days. Need the doc back in one day? I’m happy to for $10 more, regardless of package.

I loved editing Ripon College’s newspaper bimonthly with my gal pal, Allie. One of my latest successful editing experiences was reviewing a book by my pastor in Wisconsin.
